Betty Claim [Attempt Number One]

I pause. The infamous Betty. I hear she’s a fast runner and looking to her mane I see ribbons with their bells coming loose. Maybe the person who tied them didn’t tie them tight enough, or perhaps Betty was scratching them out. Maybe she was running away before they could secure the braid. 

Betty nickered as I stayed where I was, the thundering clouds above me giving me a small scare. Betty put her nose to the sky as we waited. Do I just try to tie the bells into her mane, or do I take it slower? 

I haven’t talked to anyone who tried to claim Betty. She was the talk of the stables though, the only one in the herd with teddy ears, the main trait the teddy cobs were known for. 

She looked like a little teddy bear just standing there. Like it was a game. Maybe, just maybe if I made the game interesting enough she would allow me to braid the ribbon adorned with jingle bells into her mane. 

As I took a step forward, Betty perked her ears and snorted, giving a playful whinny. So this was indeed a game to her. Fair enough. I sighed as I mentally prepared myself. I wanted this beautiful horse. With my ribbon in hand, the jingle bells doing what they do best, I took another step forward. Betty neighing, tossing up her head and stomping her hoof. As if on command, a flash flood started. The rain poured down from the sky faster than I was prepared for.

I knew it was supposed to rain, but I didn’t think it would be this bad. She neighed again, and a small herd of horses came running. What was this? An ambush? 

What was up with these ponies? Two of them seemed to be getting in a playful fight, rearing and bucking, but not drawing any blood. Honestly, they were all cute, but out of the small herd, Betty was the main one who caught my eye. Not only was she a challenge, which I mean, I love a good challenge, she was also drop dead gorgeous. Her little teddy ears made her devious behavior tolerable. 

I mean what kind of pony pulls out ribbons that little kids probably braided in? Betty does I guess. She was rubbing up on one of the other horses, ribbons falling out of her mane. I guess she doesn’t like anyone.
