Do you like carrots? ♡
My best friend Shawn and I, Kate Moor, were sat together in a way too hot car on a way too hot day. Shawn was driving, and the wheels just now entered the driveway directly into the huge stable area. The biggest Teddy Cob Auction Event was right there in front of us, huge and incredibly busy, sounding and looking like a beehive full of busy bees. I grinned at my best friend, and after moving around quite a bit in search of a parking spot -preferrably in the shadow- we parked the car and got out. I squealed in exitement, Shawn just grinning and waking next to me right over towards the stables where the Auction teddies were located on this hot day. "I'm so excited", I exclaim, "Do you think he will be there??", I said. "Well", Shawn said, chuckling slightly, "He was displayed on the Website as one of the teddies being auctioned off.. so.. We could be assuming that he will be here, could we?" I roll my eyes but have to laugh myself as well. He was right, of course, as he always was. The little gelding, Poppy Seed, a beautiful and stunning looking grey bay Teddy, had caught my eye since I first saw the Pictures of the Auction Teddies on their Website. And so, after weeks of staring at him, I convinced Shawn, and my wallet, that we just have to try to buy him. How well that will work, we would be finding out very very shortly. And so we made our way into the stable hall, walking slowly amongst the other people, all chattering happily, some carrying around their little Dogs or Children, others with a list of Teddies they would be interested in buying. I feel my heart clenching in fear, praying that we would be lucky enough to get him. And then, after a few minutes of walking through the stables and halls, after seeing many many cute teddies, strocking a few soft noses and reading information signs about other cute Cobs, there he was, standing tied to a wall, his seller just finishing brushing out his tail and then walking away, probably to get him signed into the auction which should soon begin. Shawn stared in awe, just as I did. Poppy Seed was really a stunning fella. His pure white body seemed to shite like a bright white star amongst the other grey, brown and black Teddy Cobs around him. He was so beautiful, and elegant, even more than it was visible on the website I had spend so much time staring at over the past weeks. I squeak, grab Shawn and walk towards my hopefully soon mine gentleman of a ponie. I stop short of him, offering him my hand to sniff. "Hi my beautiful little one! Hello Poppy Seed, how are you my little fella?" I ask, full of happyness, looking around to beam at Shawn in awe of this horsie. Poppy Seed stretched his little neck forward to thoughroughly inspect my stretched out hand and sniff and touch it with his satin feeling nose. He turned his little fluffy ears towards me and looked at me with his knowling brown eyes. My heart jumped, and I close the last distance between us, stroking softly the fur on his neck, which he commented with a happy sigh and a yawn. "He looks even prettier in real life" commented Shawn, standing next to me, fumbling with Poppy Seed's little nostrils. "He IS!" I beam. "I really, really want him Shawn!" I exclaim, brushing through his fur and staring at him. Shawn smiled, opening the little information paper he had somehow aquired. "I saw him somewhere.. wait..." he took two minutes reading the brochure, and then said "Aha!" while pointing his finger at one sentence. "Here, Poppy Seed, along 9 other Teddy Cob's, will be up for auction at 2PM in Arena 4". My gaze immediatly turned to my watch on my wrist. "It's 11am, we still have 3 hours" I sigh deeply. not wanting to have to wait any longer, not wanting to fear longer that I could possibly loose this precious pony I had grown to love so deeply. Shawn just chuckled and said "What about you stay here for a minute longer, while I see if I can find some Hot Dogs around for us? Then we could walk to Arena 2, the first Auction should begin in a few minutes. Then we could watch it and see, what we can expect later, at 2!" I just sigh and nod. and watch Shawn dissapear into the crowd, looking for food trucks. I turn my gaze back at Poppy Seeds, who brummled silently, and rubbed his huge furry face on my arm. I laughed, crawling him behind his ears, and letting my gaze travel over him. He stood there very nicely, patient and very well looking. My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. "I will try to take you home later, little Poppy. I promise, I will try my best" I mumble softly to him, hugging him carefully, with him turning his ears towards me, trying to lick my cheek. Laughing, I pull away, just to see Shawn waving to me from the crowd. Taking another deep sigh, I say "I will return later!", and so i turn around with a heavy heart, striding over to my best friend who held two big Hot Dogs in his hands, trying to forget about my fear not to be able to win Poppy in the Auction. I would have to be patient..
