Trying to Yoink a Girl

Voltar looked at the mare standing in the field. He'd seen her before, seen her as a foal born to a beautiful mare that lived down the road. Votlar swallowed hard as they watched her move. Each step was light, floaty, much more than he was really expecting the mare to be. She was beautiful, much more than her gangly appearance as a yearling. He gave a low whistle, trying to get her attention despite the gathering of the herd around her. Hoping that her attention would switch to him while they walked through the open fields. The stone walls, meant to keep the horses from bothering the village, were easily climbed. He loved it when the horses came near his home; it was always a very pleasant experience.

"Miss~!" The tone was almost sing-songy, trying to draw her attention, a smile spreading across his lips as Voltar saw the mare raise her head, her attention to her name easily obviously. The mare stomped her foot, dragging her hooves a bit as she tried to think of what she wanted to do. Did she want to stay with her herd, or did she want to join Voltar, a creature who seemed to know who she was, name and all? While she recognized him, it had been at least a year, and she had been released into the wild herds to be claimed by a ribbon. Miss released a few low nickers, making some noise and raising her head, stomping her foot as she stared down Voltar, considering everything. Voltar smiled some, glad that the mare was a bit reluctant to stay with her herd. That was a good sign! He might be able to get a ribbon into her hair without having to get out and go towards the entire herd. That was dangerous.

Voltar shifted his weight, putting his foot up onto the fence, his wings flaring out as he stared at the mare, giving a low whistling sound. He hoped that the mare would come over to the sound, but he wasn't sure if it was going to work. Voltar felt his pocket, ensuring that the ribbon he knew he had was still in there. He swallowed hard; he just needed her to approach him. He gave another low whistle. Miss stared at him, her ears perked at the sound, releasing a few small snorts. She stood still, though, tossing her head a bit as she observed Voltar, taking a few steps away from the herd, her head turning back as she felt another mare shove gently against her side. She stomped her foot, releasing a loud snort and turning her butt towards them for a moment, before her attention returned to the avian as he released a few loud, low-toned whistles again. Miss stared at him.

"Come on, Miss, I got some carrots!" Voltar called out, his voice loud but a bit soft, trying to ensure the tone was something that wouldn't scare the mare off. He swallowed hard as he moved closer, taking cautioned steps over the stone hedge, his wings flaring out, feathers sprawling as he kept a hand firm on the fence-line. Miss still just stared at him for a few moments before the mare released a few soft sounds, snorting before finally taking a few steps towards Voltar. Her feet moved in light, almost floaty motions as she walked towards them. Voltar swallowed hard; he loved the motions she had. He'd loved her mother before his neighbor sold her, and honestly, he really hoped that the mare decided he could bring her home.

"Are you as sweet as you were when you were a babe?" Voltar gently asked the mare, offering his hand to her, reaching to scratch at her neck once he had the chance to. He smiled as he got a quick and easy attention to the mare, scratching at her neck, a few steps forward as Miss shoved her nose quickly into his arm, gently biting at her clothes, trying to groom him for a few moments, Miss finally recognizing the young avian that was with all the cattle next door. She let out a few low snorts, still happily nipping and pulling on the jacket the avian wore. Voltar gently scratched at her neck, releasing a few soft humming sounds. Voltar shook his head a bit, reaching to start scratching at Miss's mane, trying to consider where the best spot might be to tie the ribbon. Honestly? He wasn't even considering the mare for himself, just as he'd gotten Heartbreak as initially a mare for Cascade; that's all he saw in this mare. Her beautiful golden body and lovely mane, with the white splotches? It reminded him of how he saw his mate. Cascade was beautiful, radiant, and this mare was also beautiful and radiant.

"Do you care if I tie a ribbon into your mane, Miss?" Voltar gently asked the question, trying to be very careful; he wanted to make sure that the mare was going to allow him to do whatever he needed to do. He gently scratched at her neck, the mare lowering her head some as she released a few low nickers, trying to shove against the scratches that the avian offered. Voltar tried not to laugh at the aggressive little mouthing that he got, the mare trying to keep his hand on her neck, wanting more scratches. Voltar shook his head, gently reaching so that he could keep scratching, but reach towards his pocket to try to get his fingers wrapped around the bell that was going to be put into Miss's mane.

"I'm just getting the ribbon, I'm not going to stop petting you," Voltar promised quietly, gently humming towards the mare as he scratched at her neck more, whistling lowly. Miss raised her head, stomping her foot and tossing her head back a few times before finally shoving her weight hard against Voltar, releasing a few low sounds as she responded to the chirping nosies that Voltar hummed out. Miss shoved her nose gently against Voltar's chest, gently releasing a few deep sighs into his chest.

Voltar shook his head a bit, laughing quietly as he reached into his pockets, finally stopping for a moment. Miss sounded very displeased, that is, until he pulled out a small carrot and offered it to the mare. Miss seemed to beam, despite still obviously really wanting some attention. Voltar gently opened her hand, shoving her head into his hand to get the carrot from Voltar, the little mare happily trotting away for a moment. Voltar released a low groan, shaking his head and leaning his head back some as he tried to avoid the vicious little shake she gave as he approached, trying to tie the ribbon into her hair now that he'd had the chance and opportunity. He snorted, smiling, leaning to scratch gently at her.

"Okay, just one more try, stop squirming." Voltar laughed as he gently began to loop the ribbon to the mare's mane...hopefully it would stick. And she done coming home with him in the morning.
