Azurite Claim Attempt 3

The lines to fill in for chances to adopt where long many of the teddies had quite a few families talking to the ranch hands to adopt that dear Teddy their child connected to. Henry and Fred walked among them having taken some time to look around at the ponies settling into their stalls for the time being- some still very inquisitive about snacks.

“Oh hey! I think that’s her stall over there” Fred said nudging Henry with his shoulder. Henry looked over to see a ranch hand just looking inside the stall as she held a clip board. The approach of the two men caught her attention.”

“Oh hello there! Are you to interested in Azurite here?” She asked with bright eyes. As she needed as a nod from the both of them and opening of the mouth from Henry before he was cut off. “Oh good! I was so worried I wasn’t going to see anyone- not that I think she really cares it just means a lot to find them a home.”

It was Fred who spoke first not giving Henry much of a chance to start off, “yes we are. Has anyone else showed interest?”

The women nodded before looking down on her clipboard “Yes there is a few names including you folks. So what made you interested In her?” She asked clicking her pen so that it was working.

Henry waved his hand the go ahead to let Fred explain why, as he walked over to look at the little Teddy. The little mare was getting herself comfortable in the hay filled stall laying down as it felt convenient to her. “Must feel better this way huh.” He said quickly with a small chuckle. He continued to watch the mare but eavesdropped onto the conversation next to him.

“Oh so I see! Well it’s rather marvelous idea to have a camp like that, I’m sure that both Teddies and Kids like it alike.” Laughed the women

“Yes yes! Our gelding especially love the kids they can’t get enough of them.” Fred said looking over to Henry “he actually got Ziggy here from you guys.”

The women’s face lit up at the saying of the name Ziggy. “Oh Ziggy! I miss that sweet boy how is he?” She asked, Henry shook his head and chuckled before Fred spoke up.

“Oh just the life of the party! He loves to be the star of the show among them all.” Fred laughed “he is doing well though”

She nodded to this writing down a note onto the clip board. “Now are you two aware of her past?”

Fred and Henry both nodded to that and it was Henry woke spoke. “Yea we are honestly we felt bad for her as we saw her out there in the field, it’s nice seeing her relaxing now. I do have some other Teddys who will start to help her adjust.” The women nodded once more as she wrote down some more notes down onto her clipboard.

“Alright well a few more routine questions for this.” She said looking down at her clipboard. “Do you have the means of safe transportation for this Teddy tonight should you be chosen to adopt her?”

“Yes”

“Do you understand that This Teddy will not be able to hold the weight of an adult?”

“Yes”

“Do you have adequate space for this Teddy and the needs that they require?”

“Yes”

“Well you two are the only ones I have spoken to tonight.” She said nodding to herself as the questions finished up. “I do have a few others on the list for tonight to speak to who are interested. Feel free to hang around here or head back to the Dining hall. We will be calling out names shortly for those we have been considered for her adoption.”

“Thank you miss- I didn’t get your name.” Fred asked reaching out his hand for a hand shake.

“Nancy.” She said with a smile shaking his hand back. “I already got the both of yours down here from when I started the questions. Giving you both mine must have slipped my mind.” She laughed.

“Thank you once again.” Henry said with a dip of his head before both him and Fred stepped aside so they could take a look at the little mare. The Teddy was resting with her eyes closing ears perked up to listen to the world around.

“Well hopefully we do get her, I’m sure with some time she will feel more comfortable around kids.” Fred said quietly as if to not wake her. Henry nodded in agreement as he looked at her sleeping maybe oblivious to what was going on or used to it hoping for a quick night. “Well let’s wait in the dining hall I suppose. Think they will have some coffee?”

“They better.” He said with a laugh as the two of them walked away from the stall. Lines for the other teddies were still long but going down. The couple made their way into the dining hall and thankfully were able to locate some coffee for the night.

“Well if we get her or not we are going to need this for the drive home huh.” Fred said with a laugh. “I’ll drive back since you drove here- I’ll miss the pothole unlike somebody.”

“Now hold on a minute.” Henry said in a defensive joking tone this sparked a laugh from Fred.

Fred drank some of the coffee as they both leaned lightly against the wall. They watched as some more people came back in and were awaiting results as well. The announcer from earlier came in after a last few batches of people.

“Thank you all for your patience! We will be reviewing everyone’s applications shortly for the Teddies. We appreciate all of you guys being here tonight.” A small cheer came from the crowd and some applause.
