Trying Again for Lovebird
Voltar sighed as he leaned into Heartbreak, smiling a bit to himself. This was at least a goal, right? He snorted gently at his own bemusement, shaking his head as he gently clicked his mare forward. Lovebird had kicked off the ribbon, and now, Voltar was prepared.
He had this damn ribbon on a string; he was going to do his best to make sure that that mare kept it on. He promised.
Voltar beamed as they arrived at the stone fence that marked where the horses weren't allowed to roam; the wild horses could, after all, cause some havoc if not attended to. Gardens were a main concern, followed closely by the chance they'd eat something poisonous. He smiled as he saw the mare standing underneath the tree. Lovebird was calmly grazing, her ears perking slightly when Heartbreak released a low nicker, happy to approach the mare, her ears perking forward slightly.
"Hello, looks like we meet again." Voltar chimed out, shifting his weight as he moved to hop off Heartbreak, continuing towards the mare with a bright buzz of sound. The mare snorted, shaking her head a bit at the pair. Lovebird seemed to beam towards Heartbreak, though, obviously interested in the mare. She took a few strides towards her before snorting quietly at Voltar, a bit more cautious about him. Voltar laughed.
"You let me tie this ribbon into your mane last time, I'm going to just toss another one on ya', why are you giving me so much sass, I have more treats." Voltar cooed, reaching towards the saddlebag, Heartbreak leaning her head over slightly at the movement, releasing a few snorted before she tossed her head a bit at Lovebird. Voltar laughed quietly at the excitement on her face.
Lovebird stared at them for a moment before she let out a low snort. Walking over, she gently reached for Voltar's hand, knowing where the treats were meant to be. Voltar tried not to laugh anymore, pulling out his treats and quickly offering them to Lovebird. The mare immediately relaxed, obviously just wanting the treats. She didn't really care about the ribbon in his hand or the off chance she'd be going home with him; she just wanted treats from him or anyone else. Lovebird snorted quietly, shoving her muzzle aggressively into his hand a few times, stepping closer to try to get any last bit of treat out of it.
"Calm down! I'm getting you a few more treats, I promise." Voltar cooed, reaching his arm for the saddlebag. Finally, Heartbreak released a loud snort, obviously deciding that she deserved some treats, after all, she'd been brought here to get the mare treats!
"Oh no!" Voltar released a loud gasp, playful and gentle. He smiled more, reaching to scratch gently at Lovebird's forehead as she shoved down into his hands for treats. He shot his own mare a pleading look for a moment. "I gotta give Heartbreak a treat, let me get the bag off." Voltar gently explained to the mare, watching as Lovebird traced his hands, her ears perking to the movement. He tried not to laugh, tried not to snort, just nodding a bit at the mare, shooting her a serious expression, before moving to grab the saddle bag, gently removing it from Heartbreak's back. The mare snorted quietly.
"Here ya' go, sweetheart, you deserve all the treats, don't you?" Voltar gently asked Heartbreak, the mare ate her treat much more calmly than Lovebird did, the wild mare obviously a bit jealous as she nosed, trying to find treats in the hand with the ribbon. Voltar looked towards her, smiling to himself before he hummed, going to pull out a treat, dropping the string so that it was around his arm instead. Lovebird shot back a bit, her ears swerving, obviously surprised at the sudden movement.
"I'm not going to do nothin' to ya, just give me a second, we're gonna have ya' all set up to go with extra treats to boot." Voltar gently explained, smiling as he looked at Heartbreak, the mare snorting, stomping her foot. She did not want to share any of her treats, but she was more patient than Lovebird. He knew that Cascade would dote and shove as many treats as he possibly could at the mares anyway, so it didn't really matter, did it?
"Already, I got you a treat, and then I'm going to just slide something over your neck, don't roll it off this time, and I promise I'll have so many treats for you." Voltar gently explained, reaching forward to gently scratch at the mare's head again as she shoved her nose down into the treats. Lovebird didn't move as he shoved the rope carefully over her neck. Voltar smiled some, dropping a few treats on the ground before going to put the saddlebag back onto his mare. He scratched softly at Heartbreak's neck before moving to hop up onto her.
"Hope I see you later, Lovebird, you're awfully pretty, and I know Cascade would love to give you more treats." Voltar cooed before gently clicking at Heartbreak, sending her back home. He would have to come back. He couldn't wait.
