Stuck Like Glue: Take 3 (I’m going insane)
Sasha sighed as the Teddy Cob gelding pranced around, playing hard to get yet again. An acquaintance, Estrid, had mentioned that she was going to try to claim a Teddy, and Sasha had asked to go with, just to see if the bell was still in Elmer’s mane. It was not. It was on the ground, again.
“I’m beginning to think you like being wild.” Sasha muttered to the pony as she leaned down to pick up the bell, which was lying pitifully in a patch of yellow flowers. Estrid and her older cousin Svea were on the other side of the herd, trying to catch a buckskin gelding that the guidebook said was named Scramble. Sasha whispered a prayer that both her and Estrid would be successful, then focused her attention back on the bay gelding. This was the final day to try to claim a Teddy before they were brought to the winter barn. If this didn’t work, she would have to wait until next year. A whole extra year without a Teddy of her own. Hopefully at least Estrid would be successful, then Sasha could occasionally steal Scramble for some coblet cuddles. Lost in her thoughts, Sasha almost didn't realize that Elmer had walked right up to her.
“You cannot make up your mind, can you bud.” Sasha said to him, giving him a good natured pat on the shoulder. She surveyed the small pony, trying to decide where to fasten the bell this time. If only I had some superglue. Sasha thought, then giggled at the idea. As Elmer happily grazed, his tail blew lightly in the wind. His tail… As long as his mane was, his tail was twice as long, which would give her even more hair to fasten around the bell… Sasha decided to try it. Worst case scenario… No. She didn't want to think about the possibility of losing Elmer. Even with all of his sassy chase games, she had fallen in love with the little pony. She carefully took a strand of his tail, and when he didn’t appear to care, she got to work, knotting and braiding and tying the ribbon with the bell into the Teddy’s dark tail. Finishing off her knot, she gave it a firm tug. That wasn’t going anywhere. She hoped. Turning her attention away from the gelding, she saw that Estrid and Svea had successfully tied their bell into Scramble’s mane, complete with a hot pink ribbon. Sasha made one last plea for good luck for her and the other girls, before saying goodbye to Elmer. She really hoped this would work.
