Baby’s Special Teddy..

The sun had started to rise, and as the roosters called out to greet the sky a sleepy little mare groggily opened her eyes. Slowly blinking herself awake as she wiggled her nose, Baby's tail flicked playfully.

The mare stood up from her soft warm spot in her hay bed, shaking off any excess dirt and debris from her curly mane and thick fur. Stubby ears flicked around curiously, waiting for the next time the rooster would crow, and right on queue she heard the call! Baby now knew it was time to start her day.

Glancing over at her hay bed, she reaches her face down to grab a small teddy plush, a cute little brown bear. The mare never went anywhere without this teddy, it was her best friend and she took him everywhere! Snorting happily after recovering her friend, she step hoof out her open stall then walked out around the corner to the open pasture!

It was late spring, the snow had finally gone and all the flowers were in full bloom, large piles of daisies and clover scattered all of the fields of her home. Baby was mostly an untouched horse, being very familiar with humans and human objects, however she didn't have any formal training or huge desire to hangout with her keepers. Fortunately for baby she was allowed to roam in and out of her stable freely, and she spent most of her time grazing patches of greens!

It was time for her to start her morning routine, plush in her grasp she begin to pick up a gentle trot! Destination in mind, she slowly made her way over to a distant tree. Her hooves making soft rhythmic beats as they struck the ground. She could see the tree more clearly now! Soft rounded green leaves, many new from the changing seasons, and beautiful deep umber bark, to show the tree's great health. Having arrived, Baby gently places her teddy, Bongo, onto the soft grass between strong roots, then immediately gets to work!

Baby presses her nose to the ground, shuffling her lips around in search of the perfect patch to graze on, and before long, she finds it! She uses her teeth to pluck delicious weeds from the ground, her ears flicking forward with  much content! Swishing her short tail around excitedly, Baby continues to munch on the green grass! Yet something was missing, and then she paused. Suddenly growing tense she looked up and over at the tree, her teddy was still there, and then she eased, carrying on with her activities.

Without knowing how much time had passed, suddenly the silly cob heard a bell and her other favorite sound, the sound of her feed being shook! With a small kick and a joyful neigh, Baby had suddenly bolted in the direction of the sounds, flicking up dirt and debris with her hooves as she moved with much haste!

Baby came up to the sturdy wooden fence, her keeper stood on the other side with her bucket of feed, the greedy thing reached her head over the short fence and stuffed it into the bucket! Her keeper could only laugh, however THOS wasn't the first time she had done this. The happy horse would chow on the feed provided for her, grunting cheekily and stomping her little hooves to express her excitement! Baby's keeper took this moment to speak to her, saying sweet  things that the mare hadn't paid much attention to. Her keeper would reach out and pet her mane, and Baby hadn't mined in the slighest.

Although as Baby finished her bucket of feed, she lifted her head to scout her area, when realization struck. The mare grew tense, withdrawling from her handler's touch and huffing, growing quite panicked. Looking left, then right, then down and around, the mare realized she left her teddy all alone. Baby's ears pinned back and her tail swished around anxiously, she stood wearily and begin to pace, where was he?? Did she leave him? Where did leave him? She had to find him.

Baby's keeper tried to reach out a hand, but this only sent Baby into a spook, she would rear, hitting the ground with a thud she suddenly spun around and bolted! Not knowing where she was going, but she had to go! The ground below her was firm, allowing this littke mare to kick off with much traction. She ran, and ran until her lungs had worked a little too hard, and suddenly she came to a halt. Where was she? Baby looked around, far from the fence where she just was, and her keeper out of site. Baby focused her gaze to the ground, having found herself in a small patch of daisies. She missed her teddy, and with a huff of defeat, she fell to the ground. Not wishing to move anymore.

Baby rolled around in the flowers, trying to relieve some of her tension, then suddenly, she remembered. She left her teddy by the tree! Yes wait the tree! She rolled back over to prop herself up, now on her feet she gave herself one good shake then speedily galloped towards her favorite tree! Covering much distance with her short little cob legs, the mare was closer than ever to her destination. Almost too close- she near ran into the tree itself but stopped herself before she collided with its strong trunk! 

Blinking rapidly the mare stood at a firm halt for just a moment, catching her breath and regaining her thoughts. The teddy bear! Wiggling her nose she could smell him! Her precious plush was near, and carefully she circled the tree... and there he was!! She hopped with joy and then pressed her face into the soft plush, relieved that she had found him..

Crazy that this all happened in less than an hour, but Baby didn't care, she picked up her precious bear and begin her walk back home.. Having had enough of this scary morning...
