Margarita, blueberries to match your ‘twin’? #1
The rolling fields were washed in the dawn light, the little podgy ponies in their tight-knit herd nibbling at blades of grass in a farmer’s paddock. The wildflowers brushed against their hooves, a comforting sight in the morning rays. Sheep in the field next to them stuck their faces through the fence panels and sniffed, bleating at the group. One young mare, a pretty roan that looked like her time in the sun had bleached the fur on her back, wandered over to the sheep and peered at them quietly, nuzzling at them and ruffling their wool. She snorted when they licked at her, their attitude much more curious than hers. A couple of the little sheep snuck through the fence as the sun rose, their little bleats a melody as they frolicked about by the mare’s feet.
The scene was as though a child had dreamt it; the delicate flowers behind bushes, the ponies spread out in their peaceful spots. The sheep played, and then they laid, their mothers watching from the other side of the fence with mild concern. The mare that stood quietly with them, careful to entertain them but keep them out from under her hooves and also her companions’. She whinnied and snorted to them, unaware of the woman by the opposite fence line, bell in hand and gentle smile painted under the shadow of her wide-brimmed hat.
Peregrine whistled quietly at the ponies, her brown eyes watching them eagerly. This new herd was close to her corral, and they were exceptionally pretty - a mix of roans, bays, chestnuts, and a dun that she was certain that one of her friends would enjoy. Her whistle alerted a couple of the ponies, and the lambs leapt up and went scampering through the hedge-lined fence and to the flock beyond. Peregrine chuckled quietly, their eyes stuck on the blue roan mare that trotted over, whinnying and snorting. She was the spitting image of her other pony, Ava, but seemingly more playful, which could be a fun adventure. Peregrine themself was an endurance trail-rider, swapping between sturdy ponies and taller steeds - so a pony with a bubbly personality would be a perfect add-on to the mix.
